Our tour starts by heading towards Montserrat, the iconic mountain with razor-sharp peaks, and behind which lie the Penedès vineyards.

We will first visit the 10th-century Benedictine monastery of Sant Sebastià dels Gorgs, highly representative of Romanesque religious architecture in Penedès.

Then we will go Vilafranca del Penedès, the main town in the region, and head inside the medieval palace of the Kings of Aragon, which actually houses the Catalan Wine Cultures Museum.

To complete our wine experience, we will then visit the facilities of a local winery and enjoy a wine tasting.

The second leg of our tour takes us towards the coast for a leisurely walk across the old Bohemian artist town of Sitges.

The town is famous for its wild and spectacular Carnivals, as well as for being the hometown of Facundo Bacardi, founder of the eponymous rum.

He is remembered in the Casa Bacardi, located in the former town market.

Sitges also was home to a great many artists, and their work is immortalized in the city’s numerous museums and galleries.

A staggering collection is found at Cau Ferrat, the home and studio of artist and playwright Santiago Rusiñol, and it is here that we will head to learn about his work, and how he brought fame to this small fishing town in the 19th century.
