BIKING IN BARCELONA

On July 2nd, Francesco biked across Barcelona with the Byrne family from San Francisco.

From Passeig de Sant Joan we went all the way up to explore the charming neighborhood of Gràcia, then biked across the Eixample District.

Right after, we stopped to refresh ourselves with a well-deserved gelato and headed down to the multicultural and ever-changing Raval quarter, in the Old Town.

We rode by Botero’s “Cat” in the Rambla del Raval, and then stopped over in the courtyard of the Maritime Museum to admire the copy of Narcis Monturiol’s Ictineus II, a revolutionary wooden submarine tested in 1859.

Finally, we skirted the water at Port Vell, rode across the beautiful Ciutadella Park, and ended up not far from the 1888 World Fair Arc de Triomf.

What an afternoon! There’s nothing quite like cycling in Barcelona.
